Fatigue and Depression

Being sluggish and tired is often caused by foods low in nutritional values and by a lack of exercise. This makes sense, when we are tired we tend to be less active and by being less active we are prone to burn less calories. This is a recipe for low energy and weight gain.

This situation is sabotaging all our best intentions to stay fit and active and can lead to frustration and depression, accompanied by negative thoughts and more destructive behaviour.

And while there is no specific diet to treat depression the connection between food and well being has long been established. Food can play a major part in managing symptoms and lacking essential nutrients puts you at risk at a variety of health conditions.

Depression and the resulting weight gain seems to be more common among women than men and is often evident by a reduced interest in things that used to bring joy, happiness and excitement.
