Reflection of Health

In alternative medicine, good skin is a reflection of a good digestive system. People with skin disorders such as acne, rosacea, and psoriasis often suffer from constipation, diarrhea, candida, mal-absorption and other digestive conditions.

Possible causes:

Water – One of the main reasons could be not drinking enough water. Water bathes cells and eliminates waste products, preventing constipation.

Fibre – Most people lack fibre in their diets. Fibre could be supplied by eating fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, beans and legumes and whole grains.

Sluggish circulation – not enough exercise. Inactivity promotes bloating and puffiness, acne, cellulite and loss of muscle tone. An excellent way to start the day and any time during breaks at work is to incorporate some stretch exercises or a short walk.

Excess sugar – Excess sugar is considered to be one of the main causes of premature aging. The more sugar we eat, the more sugar we have entering our bloodstream. Try to gradually reduce your sugar intake.

Good fats – Essential fatty acids are simply fats our body cannot live without. They keep your heart healthy, fight inflammation and conditions such as eczema, acne and dry skin. Good fats are found in flaxseed or walnut oil, cold water fish, salmon and fish oil supplements.

Skin is the bodies largest organ and reflects our overall health, From preventing wrinkles to facial massages, cosmetics and nutrition, the best thing to remember is to eat healthy, avoid junk food, do not smoke, exercise regularly, drink plenty of water and to read the ingredients on all skin care products to avoid harmful chemicals.  Read more…
