Auricular Acupuncture

Acupuncturists all over the world use this therapy to treat pain, addictions of all kinds, internal disorders, emotional issues and a host of other problems with excellent results. Auriculotherapy (or ear acupuncture) is a technique of using points on the skin of the auricle (external ear) to diagnose, treat pain and medical conditions of the body. Whether used in conjunction with other treatments or by itself, auriculo-therapy is often effective when other treatments have failed. It is safe, non-invasive and has no known side effects.

Auriculo-therapy is a form of alternative medicine and has its roots in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Just as ancient healing art defines acupuncture points on the body for treatments of various conditions, similar points are defined in the ear. The ear is actually a micro-map of the entire body, with all body parts represented. According to principals of auricular therapy, each area of the ear corresponds to a different anatomical portion of the body and by stimulating these areas certain therapeutic effects have been observed.

Today common forms of auricular treatments include acupuncture needles, focused pressure, lasers, magnets or electrical stimulation. Based on the idea that the ear is a micro system of the entire body similar to the teachings of iridology and reflexology it is assumed that ailments of the entire body are treatable by this method.

Almost all health conditions can be affected to some degree by stimulating ear points. The most common reported uses have been for control of chronic pain, detoxification from addiction (smoking, heroin and cocaine addiction), relief from nausea, and high blood pressure.
